Bristol launches smart card trial

16 December 2013

Smart ticketing for public transport in South West England has been extended following the launch of a smart ticketing trial in Bristol.

A smart travel card is being trialled this month in readiness for a roll-out on Bristol's park and ride services early next year. The card, which has been developed by the council with bus operators, allows passengers to buy tickets online in advance.

Smart card initiatives are being rolled out across the region to enable most public transport journeys to be undertaken using smart ticketing technology. From the smallest transport operator to the largest, joining services together under a local smart card scheme simplifies travel for visitors and local residents alike.

For further information on smart card initiatives in South West England please take a look at ACT's recent press release on joining up transport in South West England.
