ACT's Cloud Ticketing Service delivers further ITSO retailing opportunities

Parkeon ticket vending machines (TVMs), which incorporate ACT's Remote POST software, have been deployed in Red Funnel's new self-service ticket kiosks. The new technology has enabled Red Funnel Ferries to join the Solent Go smart travelcard scheme which allows passengers in South Hampshire to travel on the region's buses and ferries using a single smartcard.


The new machines will give Isle of Wight residents, travelling via Southampton, the ability to purchase through-tickets from East and West Cowes to any UK rail station. For the first time, passengers will also be able to purchase rail tickets online, from train operators and websites such as thetrainline.com, and then collect their tickets from a Red Funnel TVM when they travel. Topping up Solent Go Travelcards couldn't be easier - customers can purchase their ticket top-ups online and collect them at the ticket kiosk, or top up and collect at the kiosk when they travel.

ACT has worked with Parkeon, as well as a number of other Cloud Partners, to provide the remote ticketing technology that gives passengers a far easier way to keep their smart travel cards loaded with the tickets they need to travel. It developed its Cloud Ticketing Service to provide a wider, more accessible retail network for smartcard holders, giving passengers an easy way to buy and download tickets.
